What’s New in Playa Cosón
Playa Cosón is the most unspoiled beach in Las Terrenas, featuring golden sand, coconut plantations, river mouths, and a long stretch of open-ocean waves. It’s perfect for nature lovers, surfers, and anyone seeking a more authentic experience.
Playa Cosón "La Playita"

La Playita is located just after Punta Bonita, at the beginning of Playa Cosón, and can also be reached on foot from Playa Bonita.

As its name suggests, it’s a small and charming beach, popular among local residents for its calm waters, stunning view over the entire Cosón Bay, and magical sunsets over the sea.

After La Playita, the Cosón Bay opens to the open sea, with gentle waves and a long stretch of sand lined with coconut palms, leading all the way to Los Dos Ríos.

Playa Cosón "Los Dos Rios"

The area known as Los Dos Ríos is one of Las Terrenas’ most iconic spots, celebrated for its natural beauty.
Its name comes from the small Cosón River, which reaches the sea through two channels after passing through a wetland area along the beach.

Each day, the river’s meeting with the ocean shifts with the tides, creating ever-changing shapes and patterns in the sand.
The famous Balerio Restaurant, set right by the shore, completes this picture of nature, local flavor, and sea.

If you’re ready to ride the waves, Enoha and his traditional surf school are here to welcome you and share the local passion for the sea.

Playa Cosón "Rio Balata"

At the western end of Playa Cosón lies the Balatá River, whose source emerges from a cave at the foot of the nearby hills.
The river flows gently into the sea, creating one of the most beloved spots among local visitors.

Its calm, shallow waters are perfect for families to cool off in the shade of bamboo trees and lush tropical vegetation.
Several small local restaurants serve traditional Dominican dishes and refreshing cocktails, which can be enjoyed by the river or right on the beach.

The gentle waves here also invite you to have fun playing in the surf.
